I’m writing to ask if you will support Fair Vote Canada, the campaign for proportional representation, by signing the Declaration of Voters’ Rights at:

Proportional representation means that if a party gets 30% of the vote, they will get about 30% of the seats, and that almost every Canadian voter will cast a ballot which helps elect an MP who shares their values. 

In every election, half or more of Canadians cast ballots which elect no-one. A majority government is often formed with far less than 50% of the vote. Instead of working together, our parties are driven by a winner-take-all voting system where voters lose. 

I'm asking you to support this campaign that is close to my heart: Fair Vote Canada's call for equal and effective votes. 

If we fix the voting system, we have a real opportunity to build a future for our kids and grandkids we can all be proud of.

Fair Vote Canada is pushing for a National Citizens' Assembly on Electoral Reform as the next step, to get politicians out of the way and let informed citizens lead.
