Collect Signatures for Proportional Representation

Thanks to the hard work of all of you, our new government has promised to make 2015 the last first-past-the-post election.

The Liberals campaigned on a promise to set up an all-party committee to study ranked ballots, proportional representation, mandatory voting and online voting, and to introduce legislation for electoral reform in 18 months. Our window of opportunity to influence them is now.

Can you help us between now and Christmas by collecting signatures on a petition to be delivered to MPs to present in the House of Commons?

Many Canadians who support fair voting are relieved to see the end of the previous government, and hopeful that our new government will be more responsive to a broader base of Canadians.

Although some Liberal MPs are in favour of PR, the current government is not committed to the principle of proportional representation. Unless they deliver proportional representation, we can look forward to an endless cycle of more phony majority governments in future, distorted results, adversarial politics, wasted votes, strategic voting campaigns, and policy flip flops.

The evidence supports making every vote count. The last election changed the government, now let’s change the system.

This petition drive is a part of an intensive, multi-pronged strategy to influence the decision makers over the next 12 months.

With the Parliamentary Committee forming soon and the politicians and media debating the issue, there’s no time to lose. Please sign up to help us win votes that count now!
