Make proportional representation a priority in the Ontario election!

Ontario’s first-past-the-post system hands all the power to one party with just 40% of the vote. The majority of voters are left without representation, shut out of decisions that affect their lives.

In today’s climate of worsening political polarization, we cannot afford to give total control of the legislature to one party with only minority support.

Voters deserve meaningful choices, effective votes, and a legislature that truly reflects Ontario’s diversity.

The long-term challenges facing Ontario demand a more collaborative style of governance. This can only be achieved through proportional representation, where 40% of the vote equals 40% of the seats.

Nearly 80% of OECD countries use proportional representation. It was implemented when parties were willing to work together to make it happen. It’s time for Ontario to follow suit.

We call on you as a party leader to prioritize proportional representation and the establishment of a non-partisan Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform in your platform for the next provincial election campaign.

If you are not already on our mailing list, would you like to receive campaign updates from Fair Vote Canada? We will be presenting a hard copy of this petition in person to the party leaders and we'd love to keep you informed. We will not give your email address to the party leaders, only your name and postal code will be on the petition.
