Tell Your Ontario NDP MPP to Put PR in the Platform!

With the Ontario Liberals trailing badly in the polls, the Ontario NDP may be in a position to either form government, or bargain for proportional representation in a minority government in 2018.

Will the NDP promise every Ontario voter that they will fight to Make Every Vote Count?

We can't take this for granted. Parties respond to what they hear (and don't hear) from voters. The 40 page "Vision" Ontario NDP members received at their recent convention did not contain a word about PR.

The provincial NDP are developing their election platform RIGHT NOW.

NDP MPPs need to hear that proportional representation is important to us and we expect them to present a plan to Ontario voters to make 2018 the last provincial election using first-past-the-post.

I am a constituent.

Many voters were extremely disappointed when Prime Minister Trudeau broke his electoral reform promise this year, turning his back on overwhelming evidence in favour of proportional representation. The federal NDP has consistently championed proportional representation, and all their leadership candidates made specific commitments to deliver PR.

With a provincial election fast approaching, I am concerned that proportional representation is not on the agenda of the Ontario NDP. In past provincial elections the Ontario NDP has barely mentioned it, and PR is missing from the "Vision" document convention delegates received.

This election could be a turning point in Ontario. Voters are counting on the ON NDP to champion proportional representation. We need a firm commitment from the Ontario NDP in your 2018 election platform to implement proportional representation if elected and make PR a condition of supporting any minority government.
